    • the background is busy
    • the text is constant
    • the background image is a dynamic shape that is on a white background.
    • the images can be changed if wanted

Class Critique – Monday, October 19, 2015

The below images are some of my work that prepared for todays class critique. following the pervious process steps, he images below contain the first phase of the application design, logo experiments, project scenario and some notes that i took through the critique.

The critique was very useful because I was able to show my logo experiments with the application design. below are some of the important points that i will be focusing in the next few days.

  • Typefece
  • ergonomic point of view (size)
  • create a wired frame
  • show the navigation
  • use grids
  • refer to examples example Instagram and twitter
  • you can group your options
    • map
      • map
      • location
      • tracking the car
    • points system
      • points awarded
      • redeeming points
      • terms of policy
  • Colors should be reduced
  • chose one primary color + black
  • the brand identity should be in english and arabic.

Logo

  • Identify what is unique?
  • articulate it in one idea
    • pick-up
  • choose a better name
  • internationally
  • dynamic branding

These are the points that I will be focusing on. I will start by choosing a name. Then designing the logo and and starting with the application. along with these steps I will consider the typeface that I will be using, colors, navigation option for the application and creating the grid for the design of the application.

Poster

Below is my updated poster, In the critique I realized that the typeface i used was not the best typeface for a poster. The text is better now. I will just replace the image with a different image which is larger in size because this image is pixelated.

The first step was to start designing the logo by creating different experiments. At this point I was not sure if the way i strated the design was right or wrong.

here Since I chose the colors and had few ideas for the logo I decided to start designing the application.

In this part I tried to use the shapes of the english logo by reflecting the shapes. The results were not successful. The result did not turn out as i wanted. Therefore I tried few different options.

This is the final logo which I created.

I realized the abstract gets shorter the more it is developed. At the same time the meaning changing is more clear.

Abstract 4

Recycling is a process that is not practiced by everyone in Qatar. This process is important because new products can be created out of existing materials, which will contribute toward the environmental sustainability. Most of the used materials are mainly categorized as waste. As a result this may lead to major affects to the environment such as affecting the ecosytems. Designing a visual language with a recycling plan will allow in raising awareness in the community in Qatar.

Abstract 3

Recycling is a process that is not practiced by everyone around the world. This process is important because new products can be created out of existing materials, which will help the environmental sustainability. Most of the used materials are mainly categorized as waste. As a result this may lead to major affects to the environment such as pollution. Designing a mobile application, with a delivery car will allow the households in Qatar to have their recycling materials picked up from the step of the doors and earn points according to the weight of the materials. The points can be redeemed in specific market in Qatar. This will result raising awareness to the households in Qatar.

Initial Designs

Below are some of the screen shots I took from my work. I was not sure how I should start with the designing phase. During class I had a discussion regarding how I should be starting this phase of the project. I was suggested to have more precedents from recycling projects, mobile applications and delivery projects. After having the precedents, I will choose

Possible Project

Work Plan

Topic:

Recycling In Qatar

Possible Projects

  • Transporting Car and Mobile Application
  • The transporting car will be designed to pickup the recycling materials from the households in Qatar. The exterior of the car will be designed to promote the project around Qatar. The interior of the car will be divided into parts to keep the materials received separately. The interior will also include an electronic scale, which will measure the weight of the materials received. The weight will then be transferred into point. These points will be transferred to the clients account. These points could be used in two ways. The first way would allow the clients to use their point to buy the recycled material in the local market. The second option allows the clients to redeem the point through one of the local market in Qatar for example a grocery.
  • The application allows the users to communicating with the transporting car to request a pickup. An account for the users to track the pickup car, tracking personal points, An option explain points collections according to the weight of each material and many other options for the users.
  • This design will also have other products designed. Such as a membership cards, stickers, website, other social media accounts and other ways to promote this project. The transporting cars would be environmentally friendly, the car will work using alternative sources of energies which does not lead to carbon emission. Everything would work electronically for the transpiration, with measurement reports, points and many other options.

More Precedents / outcome Ideas

Recycling bins EC

One possible design could be by making a change in the recycling bins available around Education City. Most of the recycling bins are available outside the buildings. The recycling bins should also be provided inside the buildings.

Designing an Application & Recycling Car

since the 30% of the waste produced in Qatar is from households. Designing an application which could be used to communicate with the recycling car/company. The car/company will collect the materials, and give points to the client. After these materials are recycled, the recycled materials can be sold in the local market. customers with points can purchase the materials according to the number of points.
